Redneck Escapades

I just thought I would enter today's journal entry into my blog so you all can read it. Today was a good day. :)

I had such a fun, adventurous day with my dad today. I went with him in the truck out in the forest to gather up firewood he had chopped already. At first I was nervous about my dad’s plan, but then it was way fun. We drove over logs, bushes, branches and small trees with my powerful truck in 4-wheel-drive. Sometimes I didn’t think he could make it, but he did. My dad backed into a tree a couple times, and the front bumper came almost completely off. The truck is also scratched up now. My mom was mad at us for messing up the truck, but I think the dents and scratches add character. They reminds us of experiences just like scars do. I got a few bruises where I dropped firewood on my feet and my dad accidentally threw a piece of firewood at my leg a couple of times. At one point I said to my dad: “You better be grateful I’m out here doing this because no other girls would!” We both chuckled. We got dirty and scratched up and sore, but it was so worth it to have an adventure with my dad.
At one point I was thinking to myself how rough and tough I was. I picked up one piece of firewood, and on the bottom were three, black, 4-inch-wide spiders. I dropped it with a screech and shook my arms until I got that gross image out of my head. That was the end of my conceited thoughts. Later we drove through the pasture into another part of the forest. My dad got out of the truck to pull some tansy real quick, but he accidentally left the truck in Drive. He stepped out and the truck drove off at probably about 10 mph. I yelled to my dad and we both chased after it. Luckily my dad got to it before it went more than a few yards, and he jumped in and backed it up and parked it. We were both just laughing our heads off. It was so fun. I’m so grateful for these sweet experiences with my dad. I hope I can look back one day and remember them. That’s why I’m recording them here.
